This is another still from the Spy scene and it is a mid shot of Claudia. To add effect we have dressed Kate Nash all in black so that she looks like a detective as she sets out to spy on the boy she likes. Furthermore, we feel the dark atmosphere is somewhat effective as it adds an air of mystery and makes Kate Nash look suspicious however we are considering on whether or not we want to re-film this sequence as we will also have to film when she bumps into the boy in the dark and originally we planned to film this sequence in the day so that it is bright and sunny and connects to the upbeat song.

Stills From Filming

The above shot was not on our storyboard but we decided to film this shot so that we have more variation and have a variety to choose from when editing. This shot was taken at a lower angle and is a mid shot to show Kate Nash in her bedroom getting ready to spy. The lower angle shot is effective as it differs from usual typical shots and makes the shot look more interesting. Furthermore, the use of a lower angle is effective as it gives Claudia status and even makes her look important and significant. Furthermore, we can also see that Claudia is looking into the mirror as we can see some of her arm which makes it look like an over the shoulder shot, this is effective as we know that it is from Claudia's perspective. Overall, her reflection is the main focus of the shot.
This shot is a close up of Claudia when she is miming, "His eyes are way too close together". We used a close up for this part to emphasise Kate Nash's emotions; she is upset and feeling vulnerable after she saw the boy she likes kissing another girl and her feelings regarding the boy are evident through this close-up.

This shot is part of the CSI scene when Kate Nash is at home watching Csi and eating as she feels down. It is a long shot to show Claudia and we have taken this still to ensure continuity; if we need to re-film parts of this scene we can look at this still and continuity stills enable us to know the mise en scene and everything in the frame. Overall, we used a long shot for the CSI sequence so that the audience can see that Kate Nash in this part of the video is in the comfort of her own home and this relates to the audience as when people are down they tend to stay at home, eat and watch tv alone.
This shot is a high angle shot. We used a high angle shot as we wanted to experiment with new and different shots to add effect. Furthermore, we decided to use a high angle shot as we feel it is appropriate as it makes Kate Nash look quite vulnerable and therefore reflects her vulnerable feelings after the party. Furthermore, this still enables us to see the mise-en-scene in the frame if we need to re-film. We also used dim lighting for this sequence as we felt it created a private atmosphere and links to the song when Kate Nash is talking to her friends about the boy she likes and trusting her friends to understand.
This is a mid shot of Kate Nash to show that she is in the bathroom during the party. We feel this shot is effective as it emphasises Kate Nash's emotions and feelings. She is devastated that the boy she likes, likes someone else and she feels extremely unlucky in love. Kate Nash is also leaning on the wall to emphasise her vulnerability and that she needs support, wants comfort. To emphasise that she is really upset we have smudged her makeup and also have presented her as drinking her sorrows away and we hope this evokes pity amongst the audience for Claudia.
These are some stills from the filming process so far.

Overview of filming so far

We have recently uploaded our filming content onto the computer using the Mybook which is an external hard drive which means our filming can be securely saved. We have also started to edit the bedroom scenes, the CSI scene, the bathroom scene and the spy scene and for the post-production editing process we are using the computer programme Adobe Premiere Pro which involves watching the variations of different shots and choosing the most appropriate, professional and effective. We have decided to edit as we go along rather than editing the whole process together at the end of filming as this would be time consuming and difficult. Therefore, by editing after we have filmed separate scenes we can spend more time on each scene and make each scene look highly professional. Overall, we have decided to film some scenes again such as the spy scene as we feel the part where she is leaving her house is too dark.

Filming Photographs

"Kate Nash's house"
"Long shot of Kate Nash's house"We decided to use this location as Kate Nash's house in our music video as this location continues the 50's theme as the house is victorian styled from the outside.

Spy scene

Below are some photos of the scene where Kate Nash is watching CSI and reflecting on the party and in the filming process we have ensured that Claudia conveys Kate Nash's emotions in the song. We even played sad songs about heartache in the background when filming this part so that Claudia could express Kate Nash's feelings of heartache Furthermore, we have taken photos which show the variations of shots we have used in this scene and for this sequence we recorded a sequence from CSI previously so we definately had it for filming.

This is a mid shot of Claudia's side profile to show that she is watching tv and this shot is also effective as it shows quite alot of the living room and therefore creates a homely feel. The mise-en-scene in this shot is Ben and Jerrys cookie dough icecream, large dairy milk bar, blanket, pyjamas, cushions and sofa she is sitting on.

This shot is another mid shot of Claudia eating and we positioned the camera so that it is looking down on her slightly therefore it is also a high angle shot. We positioned the camera in this way to create a sense of vulnerability and to show that Claudia feels small and even worthless after seeing the boy kissing another girl.

Over the shoulder shot. This shot is effective as it is from Claudia's perspective and makes the music video feel more personal, the audience feel closer to Claudia's character as we are seeing things from her perspective and her point of view. In the song Kate Nash refers to this sequence as being in the evening "Saturday night, I watched channel 5" however we filmed this sequence in the daytime. Therefore to make it look like night time we had to close all of the curtains to block the light from coming through. We also turned down the lights to a dim quality of lighting to show that it is evening and is in relation with the song.

This is a photo we took of Claudia to ensure continuity in the spy scene.

To make sure there is continuity in the Party scene we have taken a photo of Claudia.
Throughout the filming process we have taken a number of photos to ensure continuity regarding Claudia's appearance and mise en scene to prevent mistakes from occurring. We have also taken photos whilst filming of some of the scenes in our music video so that we can reflect on the quality of filming.
